MANILA, Philippines — Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan on Thursday said he will seek reelection in the 2022 elections.
Pangilinan will run under the Liberal Party, where he is party president.
“Tinatanggap ko at ako’y nagpapasalamat sa ating NECO na tayo’y isa sa mga kandidato ng Partido Liberal na ineendorso para sa May 2022 elections,” he said in an official announcement on his Facebook page.
(I accept and I thank our NECO that we are one of the Liberal Party candidates endorsed for the May 2022 elections.)
Pangilinan said he will need another six years to promote the welfare of farmers and fishermen to ensure that food prices will go down especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pangilinan is currently serving his third term in the Senate. He was first elected in 2001, before being reelected again in the 2007 polls.
The 1987 Constitution only allows two consecutive terms for each senator. Pangilinan won a third third term in 2016.
