Biliran town mayor tests positive for COVID-19

TACLOBAN CITY––The mayor of Almeria town in Biliran province tested positive for COVID-19.

Mayor Richard Jaguros said he started to feel unwell on Sept. 17 as he experienced dry cough, fever, and loss of taste.

“I am grateful that I was vaccinated. It helped me from getting seriously ill,” he said in a social media post.

Jaguros described himself as “clinically stable” and was on home quarantine.

Almeria is one of the areas in Biliran province that is experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases.

As of Sept. 24, the town has 86 cases of COVID-19 with five deaths.
