MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Tuesday additional 102 COVID-19 deaths that were part of backlog data, following the technical glitch in the agency’s reporting system in recent days.

In a brief advisory posted on Facebook, the DOH said the 102 deaths brought the total number of fatalities to 37,596.

“As the technical team continues to manually encode data on fatalities reported from previous days, further advisories will be issued,” the agency said.

To recall, the DOH did not report new COVID-19 deaths from September 24 to 26 after the COVIDKaya, or the department’s central repository of all data related to the pandemic response, reached its server capacity.

The department only reported additional deaths on Monday, adding 93 new fatalities in the tally. The DOH said that the encoding or updating of backlogs was only done once the COVIDKaya “became accessible.”
