After Senate revelation, House panel summons ‘missing’ Pharmally’s Mago

MANILA, Philippines — Following her bombshell admission before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp. executive Krizle Grace Mago is now being summoned by the House of Representatives for its own investigation.

The House has issued a subpoena against Mago who has disappeared after admitting before the Senate that her company had swindled the government by selling damaged medical-grade face shields with bogus production dates.

The subpoena was signed by DIWA party-list Rep. Michael Edgar Aglipay and House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco. This means that Mago has to be present during the hearing of the House committee on government and public accountability on October 4 regarding the government procurement of medical supplies and equipment for the COVID-19 response.

“You are hereby directed to appear before the Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability of the House of Representatives, to testify under oath relative to the subject matter,” the subpoena states.

“Failure to comply with this order is subject to penalty under the law,” it adds.

The House reminded Mago that Section 13 of the Rules of Procedure Governing Inquiries in Aid of Legislation of the House of Representatives grants a witness the right to be assisted by counsel whose participation shall be limited to advising the witness of his/her legal rights during the hearing.

Mago, in her testimony before senators, admitted she was ordered to instruct Pharmally warehouse staff to tamper production certificates of face shields dated 2020 with new certificates dated 2021.

But following her admission, Mago seemingly disappeared. Her last message, according to Senator Richard Gordon, chair of the Senate blue ribbon committee, was on Friday, September 24, at 7:47 p.m.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has said it already ordered its intelligence agents to assist in finding Mago.
