SAN ANTONIO, Zambales––As the number of COVID-19 cases in this province continues to rise, its mortality rate also increased Sunday to 4.05 percent from 3.84 percent.
The latest data from the provincial health office showed that 20 more residents succumbed to the disease, pushing its total death toll to 337.
The number of active cases also rose to 1,098, with 75 new infections on the same day.
Of 8,314 confirmed cases reported in the province since last year, at least 7,179 had recovered from the disease.
It reflects an 86.34-percent recovery rate, which dropped from 86.77 percent the previous day.
At least 143,335 residents have been vaccinated against the disease, of which 65,830 have received two jabs.
The province needs to vaccinate 413,000 or 70 percent of its 590,800-population to achieve herd immunity. INQ
