British man arrested on rape charges in Cebu

ORMOC CITY — A British national who was reportedly the most wanted person in Cebu province was arrested by local policemen in Barangay PS Eamiguel, Naval town, Biliran on Friday, Sept 24.

Major Michael John Astorga, chief of the Naval police station, identified the suspect as Ian Paul Markham, 67.

Markham was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Ruben Altubar of the Regional Trial Court Branch 29 in Toledo City, Cebu on charges of rape.

No bail bond was recommended.

The suspect did not resist arrest was immediately brought to Naval for booking and temporary detention while waiting for authorities to present him to the court.
