ENGLAND — The leaders of Britain and France agreed Friday “to continue working closely together,” according to Downing Street—the official residence and office of the UK prime minister–after Paris erupted in fury over a submarine deal.

“The leaders noted in particular the strategic significance of our long-standing cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and in Africa, including through the joint (security) mission in Mali,” Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s office said after he spoke by phone with President Emmanuel Macron.
