COVID-19 claims 48 more lives in Pampanga

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga––At least 48 more residents of Pampanga province have lost their battle against COVID-19, provincial government data showed on Friday, Sept. 24.

The number of fatalities rose to 2,087 based on the latest bulletin from 2,039 on Tuesday. The provincial government did not issue any bulletin on Wednesday and Thursday.

The new fatalities were residents of Guagua town (12), Arayat (7), Lubao (4), Apalit (4), Sta. Ana (4), Mabalacat City (2), Magalang (2), Mexico (2) Candaba (2) San Luis (2), Sto. Tomas (2), Floridablanca (1), Porac (1), Masantol (1), San Simon (1), and City of San Fernando (1).

Pampanga recorded 410 new COVID-19 cases from Wednesday to Thursday.

Its active cases went up to 5,994 as of Thursday from 5,901 on Tuesday.

The province had registered 41,238 cases since the pandemic began last year, of which 33,157 have recovered.

The numbers do not include the highly urbanized Angeles City, which is politically independent of Pampanga.

Angeles City recorded 87 new cases, 62 recoveries, and two deaths on Thursday. Its active cases stood at 1,490.

It registered 11,540 COVID-19 since last year, of which 9,592 had recovered while 458 had died. INQ
