P13.6 M shabu seized in Sulu drug bust, 1 arrested
MANILA, Philippines — Police seized an estimated P13.6 million worth of shabu and arrested a drug suspect in a buy-bust operation in Indanan, Sulu last Tuesday, the Philippine National Police said on Thursday.
PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar identified the arrested suspect as Yahiya Kadjuri. Two others, identified as Nurdalyn Sang and Tua Putol, were able to escape.
“I tasked the local police to conduct manhunt operation to arrest Kadjuri’s accomplices. Kailangan ding maimbestigahang mabuti kung gaano kalawak ang operasyon ni Kadjuri at kung sino ang nagsusupply sa kanya ng ilegal na droga,” Eleazar said.
(It is also necessary to carefully investigate the extent of Kadjuri’s operation and who is supplying him with illegal drugs.)
“Umaapela rin ako sa publiko na kung may impormasyon kayo tungkol dito, ipagbigay-alam niyo lamang sa mga awtoridad upang mahuli agad natin ang mga nakatakas na suspek,” he added.
(I also appeal to the public to inform the police if they have information on the whereabouts of the other suspects.)
Eleazar said the operation was conducted by operatives from the provincial offices of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the PNP, as well as military units under the Western Mindanao Command in Barangay Buanza in Indanan.
Kadjuri will be face a formal complaint for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
