Over 940,000 gov’t-procured Pfizer vaccine doses arrive in PH

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 940,680 doses of US-made Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine arrived in the Philippines on Wednesday night.

The plane carrying the government-procured vaccine doses landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 at around 9:30 p.m.

Of the total vaccine doses, 811,980 will be delivered to a cold storage facility in Marikina City, while 128,720 were earlier delivered in Cebu.

This is the second shipment of Pfizer vaccines this week, after delivering over 516,000 doses on Monday night.

This shipment brings the total vaccine doses delivered to the Philippines at over 65 million, nearly 14 million shipped this month alone.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. earlier said the Philippines is expecting to receive a total of 34 million vaccine doses in September.

So far, more than 18.5 million Filipinos have received the full dose of the vaccine, making them fully vaccinated against severe respiratory illness.

Meanwhile, 22.8 million individuals have at least received one dose of the vaccine, making a total of 41.4 million vaccine doses administered in the country.
