MANILA, Philippines — Police investigators have established that the wounds on Julian Ongpin’s body were caused by nails and not by Bree Jonson’s struggle to fight back, Police Brigadier General Emmanuel Peralta of Police Regional Office 1, said on Wednesday.
Peralta told ANC that Scene Of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) personnel checked Ongpin’s body to determine what caused the wounds.
According to Peralta, the wounds fit Ongpin’s statement that he entered the toilet (comfort room, CR) through a small window to reach Jonson.
“Ang nakita natin dun ay markings o wounds caused by nails, ‘yung mga pako ano. Kasi ang tumutugma sa sinabi ni Julian na siya ay sumuot doon sa maliit na window dun sa may CR niya sa kagustuhan niyang mapasok ‘yung CR dahil nandun si Breana,” Peralta shared.
(The markings or wounds were caused by nails. It fits Julian’s statement that he tried to enter through a small window to the CR to reach Breana.)
“Na-establish ng ating SOCO personnel na ‘yung mga sugat sa forearm niya, sa katawan niya ay not caused by struggle coming from Breana,” he further explained.

Peralta added that the rest of Jonson’s body, except for her neck which has ligature marks, are free from wounds.
“Malinis ‘yung katawan ni Breana… Ang meron lang siyang markings ‘yung sa neck niya, sa leeg. May ligature marks siya doon caused by the chain… yung cat chain,” Peralta mentioned.
“Well, ang allegation ni Julian Ongpin, nag-commit nga daw ng suicide ito si Breana. Maaring chain ang ginamit niya to hang herself inside the CR. But that, we cannot fully conclude as of this time,” he noted.
Peralta likewise said that they are still awaiting the result of Jonson’s histopathology examination.
Jonson’s mother, Sally, earlier questioned the marks on her daughter’s body, believing that she did not commit suicide.
“I asked my sister to send a picture of my daughter. Kasi gusto kong makita. From that picture alone, makikita mo ‘yung, may mark si Breana dito sa leeg na mahaba, dalawa, tapos meron parang pulang pressure dito sa gitna. So, alam mo ‘yun, parang maiisip mo na something happened there,” Sally said.
(I asked my sister to send a picture of my daughter because I want to see for myself. From that picture alone, you’ll see two marks on Breana’s neck which are long and there is pressure (mark) in the middle. So, you’ll think that something happened there.)
