Moreno to Manileños: Work as mayor to continue despite presidential bid
MANILA, Philippines — Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has assured Manileños and local officials that work at the City Hall would continue despite his decision to run for president in next year’s election.
“Tuloy ang gobyerno (Government will continue). We’re still here. I’m going to have to do what I have to do as the Mayor,” Moreno told city execs during an online meeting Tuesday, as he informed them of his political plans in 2022.
Earlier, Manila Public Information Office (MPIO) chief Julius Leonen and other officials in Moreno’s camp confirmed the former actor’s decision to vie for the presidency in next year’s polls. Moreno will have Dr. Willie Ong as his running mate.
