MANILA, Philippines — Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has assured Manileños and local officials that work at the City Hall would continue despite his decision to run for president in next year’s election.

“Tuloy ang gobyerno (Government will continue). We’re still here. I’m going to have to do what I have to do as the Mayor,” Moreno told city execs during an online meeting Tuesday, as he informed them of his political plans in 2022.

According to Moreno, things would remain ordinary even after Wednesday, when he makes his 2022 presidential bid formal.

“After tomorrow, it’s going to be an ordinary day for us. We continue to serve our people. As long as hindi maistorbo ang trabaho niyo (As long as your work will not be disturbed), it will be greatly appreciated,” he said.

“I want you to focus on helping the people. Help me help the people of Manila. We have a responsibility,” he added.

Moreno ended months-long speculations about his political plans for 2022. He was set to officially announce his presidential run at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, Leonen told INQUIRER.net.
