Pampanga’s 10 district hospitals now accepting COVID-19 patients

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—All 10 district hospitals in Pampanga province have been allowed by the Department of Health to accept and treat patients with mild and moderate symptoms of COVID-19.

Vice Gov. Lilia Pineda announced this in an online message Tuesday, Sept. 21, when she advised residents infected by the virus causing COVID-19 to seek help.

“Ali kayu sasalikut (Do not hide). Go to our district hospitals or use our schools so that you cannot infect your relatives,” the vice governor said.

Gov. Dennis Pineda confirmed in a phone interview the use of district hospitals for COVID-19 responses “to treat the rising cases.” These used to be for patients with other ailments and emergencies.

The Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Provincial Hospital is the main facility that handles mild and moderate cases. The severe and critical cases are referred to the DOH-run Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital in this capital,

For COVID-19 patients, the provincial government built two large isolation centers in Mexico and Lubao towns and rented private hotels
for quarantining or isolating them.

As of Sept.19, Pampanga, including Angeles City, logged 330 new cases, 5,982 active cases, 33,482 recoveries, and 2,106 deaths, capitol data showed. INQ
