146 deaths bring death toll to 36,934 – DOH
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Monday that 146 more patients have died from COVID-19 complications, bringing the death toll to 36,934.
In all, 3,487 deaths have been recorded in the Philippines since the start of September amid the worst COVID-19 outbreak in the country. This means that in the last 20 days, 174 people died on average per day.
This is higher compared to the average deaths recorded in the last few months: August with a daily average of 114 deaths; 97 in July; and 106 in June.
The total death toll, however, accounts for only 1.55 percent of the total 2,385,616 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country, according to DOH. It then accounts for 0.79 percent of the total deaths worldwide.
According to Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 tracker, worldwide deaths currently stand at 4,686,832.
