Yellow ribbons for Pateros houses on lockdown

/ 05:08 AM September 18, 2021

In Metro Manila’s lone municipality of Pateros, yellow ribbons will be tied not around trees but at each house with a resident positive for the coronavirus. Mayor Ike Ponce ordered this way of tagging houses on granular lockdown. “To ensure that we can watch over and easily identify houses to be locked down, we will put a tag. [Being positive for COVID-19] should no longer be ashamed of. Finding out that a neighbor is positive has become commonplace,” Ponce said, adding that even members of his family had contracted COVID-19. Barangay captains will put yellow ribbons on the house of a COVID-19 patient, he said. No one is allowed to go out. —Dexter Cabalza
