MANILA, Philippines — The city of Manila will now allow the sale and delivery of alcoholic beverages amid the implementation of the Alert Level System and granular lockdowns in Metro Manila.
This was decided through an Executive Order (EO) No. 29, Series of 2021 signed by Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, following a consultation with local government officials and representatives from the business sector regarding the matter.
“After consultation, the city finds no imperativeness to impose a liquor ban for now,” the EO read.
This means under the said EO, the liquor ban that was earlier announced on Sept. 15, is now hereby lifted starting Sept. 16 until Sept. 30.
Business establishments in Manila can now also sell liquor products.
Metro Manila is currently under the pilot run of the new COVID-19 alert level system, which will be coupled with granular lockdowns, this started Thursday, Sept. 16.
The alert level is based on the area’s case data and healthcare utilization rates, while “granular lockdowns” refer to localized community lockdowns where residents will not be allowed to constantly go in and out of their homes.
Metro Manila is currently under Alert Level 4.
