Davao City requires gov’t employees, volunteers to get vaccinated

MANILA, Philippines — Davao City is requiring all its government employees and volunteers to get vaccinated against COVID-19 by November 30, otherwise, they will face sanctions.

Under Executive Order No. 45, all city government personnel, including plantilla, job order, contract of service, and volunteers, must get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Plantilla personnel who refuse to get vaccinated will be administratively liable for insubordination and may face suspension from one month to six months for the first offense and dismissal from service for the second offense.

Meanwhile, the city government will prioritize hiring job orders, service contracts, and fully vaccinated volunteers.

According to the order, a personnel may be exempted from the mandatory COVID-19 vaccination due to medical reasons listed as contraindications in all available vaccines.

Government employees must be vaccinated against severe respiratory disease on or before November 30.

The city government will facilitate the schedule of employees for vaccination. Those who will not get inoculated on their assigned schedule will have to submit a written explanation, the order read.
