MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics operatives arrested eight suspects, which included a 17-year-old minor, in two separate buy-bust operations in Quezon City, seizing P340,000 worth of crystal meth, locally known as “shabu.”
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the suspects in the first operation as Dennis Benig, 34; Androl Makabenta, 33; Jerome Tataro, 30; Franchesca Palermo, 28; Ronilo Cabanting, 33; and a 17-year-old male.
Police said an informant tipped the location of the suspects where they were arrested at about 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday along BIR Road near the corner East Ave., Barangay Central, Quezon City.
Authorities were able to confiscate four sachets of shabu valued at P285,600, four cellular phones, two motorcycles. The policemen also recovered the buy-bust money.
Meanwhile, two other suspects were arrested in another operation in Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City. They were identified as John Michael Bañaga, 26; and Michael Serra, 36.
The two were arrested at about 12:05 a.m. Wednesday at Bañaga’s residence after the police received a tip about the illegal drug activities of the two said suspects.
Confiscated from them were five sachets of shabu valued at P54,400 and the buy-bust money.
QCPD said the drug suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The 17-year-old teen, on the other hand, will be turned over to the Quezon City Social Services Development Department for proper intervention.
