BACOLOD CITY — Two mediamen in this city succumbed to COVID-19 on Wednesday, September 15.
Rushmore Ubas, 54; and Jerome Galunan, 41, both tested positive for the dreaded virus and could not recover, according to Negros Press Club (NPC) president Yves Montecillo.
Ubas, 54, was a former assistant station manager and anchorman of Bombo Radyo-Bacolod before he worked for Muews FM.
He then joined the Radyo Bandera Sweet FM Bacolod in 2017 and became the anchor of the 11 a public service program.
Galunan, 41, on the other hand, was a sports blogger and teacher. He was previously a sportswriter for Watchmen Daily Journal.
He also contributes stories for Sun.Star Bacolod, while working as the editor of Sportsjourn.com and being a teacher at Sum-ag National High School in Bacolod.
Galunan was not vaccinated against COVID-19, while Ubas had received a Johnson and Johnson jab.
Montecillo urged the NPC members to stay united and pray for the repose of the souls of Ubas and Galunan.
“I urged all NPC members to continue implementing the health standards to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to get vaccinated if possible,” Montecillo said.
