MANILA, Philippines — Some 1.5 million more doses of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine procured by the national government were delivered to the Philippines on Friday.
The vaccines aboard a Philippine Airlines flight arrived around 6:40 p.m. at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2, as shown on a livestream by state-run PTV.
The jabs were welcomed by the National Task Force against COVID-19 special adviser Dr. Ted Herbosa.
With the arrival of the Sinovac jabs, the Philippines has already received some 54.5 million COVID-19 vaccine doses since February.
Earlier this Friday, the country received 502,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine procured by the private sector and local government units via a tripartite agreement with the national government.

To date, more than 15.8 million persons have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in the Philippines.
