MANILA, Philippines — More than 15.8 million Filipinos are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said Thursday.

During the House hearing on the procurement of vaccines by local government units and the private sector, Galvez said 37,176,513 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the public—of which 15,837,799 are second dose shots.

“Our vaccination despite challenges and constraints is still on track,” Galvez said.

“Some people said that we are very slow on the vaccination program but if you look at the rankings that we have, out of 204 countries globally, we are the 21st,” Galvez added.

Galvez noted that so far, the Philippines has received 52,792,130 doses of COVID-19 vaccines and is expected to receive more than 61 million more in September and October.
