Fisherman dead, another survives as boat capsizes in Masbate

LEGAZPI CITY—A fisherman died while another survived Tuesday when big waves battered their boat during the onslaught of Tropical Storm “Jolina” (Conson) in an island village in Cawayan town in Masbate province, the police said in a report.

Senior Master Sergeant Richard Dumalag, investigator of Cawayan police, said Ariel Dela Cruz, 38, drowned after big waves battered their fishing boat some 100 meters away from the shoreline of Barangay (village) Naro around 11 a.m.

“Jolina” had made landfall over Dimasalang town, 35 km away from Cawayan, around 10 a.m.
