MANILA, Philippines — More than half of the target population of Metro Manila is now fully vaccinated against COVID-19, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said Wednesday.
Galvez said 52.3% of the target population or about five million residents have completed the vaccine doses while 81.72% or about eight million residents have received at least one dose, making them partially vaccinated against the severe respiratory illness.
“Sa NCR naka-52% na tayo ng full dose at 80% na ang first dose,” Galvez said in an interview over ABS CBN’s TeleRadyo.
As of September 5, 2021,
Meantime, over 15 million Filipinos are already fully vaccinated against COVID-19 while 20.8 million received at least one dose as of September 5, 2021.
The government is targeting to achieve “population protection” in Metro Manila and neighboring areas to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and help revive the economy.
