DICT still perfecting digital vax certificate issuance
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on Tuesday said it was still perfecting the system for the issuance of digital vaccination certificates through a mobile phone application that would soon be launched nationwide.
Emmanuel Rey Caintic, undersecretary for digital Philippines of the DICT, said the VaxCertPH system was ready but was confronted by a “challenge” in the linkages between Vaccine Information Management System (VIMS) central database.
Caintic said some local governments do not have equipment to quickly send vaccine recipients’ data to the VIMS.
“What we needed … is to perfect the data coming in to the system,” he said.
Caintic said the standards for digital vaccination certification were issued by the World Health Organization only on July 27.
