2 suspects arrested for selling fake vaccine cards, swab test results in Manila
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday said two suspects were arrested in Manila for allegedly selling and manufacturing fake vaccination cards and negative swab test results for COVID-19.
Manila Police District (MPD) identified the suspects as Jimmy Santisima and Edito Parr.
According to the PNP, MPD operatives were able to arrest the suspects after receiving information that their shop in Quiapo, Manila was selling fake vaccination cards and negative results for RT-PCR.
The RT-PCR result is one of the documents required by local government units from travelers, aside from vaccination cards.
During the raid, police officers discovered the computers used to fake the documents, and the template for the fake swab test results was from San Lazaro Hospital and vaccination cards were patterned after cards from Pasay City.
Fake dry seals of different universities and government agencies were also found. Police say the suspects were also involved in making fake birth certificates and marriage contracts.
The suspects are currently at the MPD headquarters and are now facing appropriate criminal charges.
“Inaasahan ko ang patuloy na agresibong kampanya ng ating kapulisan hindi lamang laban sa mga taong gumagawa at nagbebenta ng mga pekeng vaccination cards at RT-PCR kundi pati na rin sa mga taong bumibili at gumagamit ng mga ito,” said PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar
