Robredo: People seeking better governance want change in current regime

MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo on Tuesday noted that people who want a better government aim for change in the current state of affairs.

“Ang punto ko lang, malinaw ang layunin ng lahat ng naniniwala sa makatao at maayos na pamamahala: Ang palitan ang kasalukuyang kalakaran,” Robredo said in statement posted on Twitter.

(My point is that everyone who advocates for humane and good governance seeks to reverse the status quo.)

“Kailangan tayong handang makiisa at magkaisa para sa layuning ito, para makamit ang tagumpay,” she added.

In the face of different political scenarios, Robredo clarified that she has not decided whether to run for office in 2022 or to endorse a candidate.

Yet she indicated that she is thinking of running for the polls.

“Nananatili akong bukas sa pagtakbo kung iyon ang ikabubuti ng ating bayan,” Robredo said.

(I am open to running for office if it is in the country’s best interests.)

Robredo said on Monday that she is willing to support Mayor Moreno and Senator Pacquiao for the upcoming elections should they bring an end to the way President Rodrigo Duterte is governing the country.
