Aurora’s active COVID-19 cases double in a week

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga—The number of active COVID-19 cases in Aurora province has doubled within a week, data from the provincial emergency operations center showed.

From 63 on Aug. 29, the number of active cases went up to 137 on Monday, Sept. 6.

The province recorded five new COVID-19 cases, five recoveries, and a single death on Monday. The fatality was a resident of Casiguran town.

The capital town of Baler has the most active cases at 42, followed by Dinalungan with 21, and Maria Aurora town with 20.

Aurora has recorded 2,261 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year. Of these, 2,026 have recovered, while 98 have died.

The provincial government has been maintaining strict border controls, requiring authorized persons outside of residence (APOR) from the private sector to present current results of reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction before they could enter the province.

Government APORs are required to show travel orders and itineraries.
