Cayetano eyes presidential run to stop gambling
MANILA, Philippines — Former Speaker and Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano is thinking of joining the 2022 presidential race as a “Christ-centered, Bible-based” candidate.
“Our people should also have an option for faith-based, value-oriented leadership. In this sense, I am seriously considering running for president as we look at the issues,” he said.
He cited the proliferation of online gambling such as e-sabong and e-casinos amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I haven’t heard anyone talk about these issues, which can really create a generation of zombies fixated on gambling and not work. In that sense, I’m really considering running for president,” he said.
