Maasin City to put 2 areas on granular lockdown
ORMOC CITY—A granular lockdown will be implemented by the Maasin City government after two of its residents tested positive for the highly contagious Delta Variant of COVID-19.
City Mayor Nacional Mercado said the patients came from Barangays Ibarra and Canturing.
“I will request our city legal officer to prepare an executive order for a possible granular lockdown of the area and swabbing of identified primary contacts and family members. Please be vigilant at all times, follow the basic health protocols, and get vaccinated as soon as possible,” he said in his post.
As of September 5, 2021, the Department of Health-Eastern Visayas Center reported one new confirmed COVID-19 case, bringing the total number of active cases to 101.
“Unfortunately, this new patient is my Dad, Congressman Roger G. Mercado. He voluntarily underwent the swab test as a requirement for his dental surgery and so far, he is asymptomatic,” Nacional said.
