17 people, including 2 kids, test positive for Delta variant in Eastern Visayas
ORMOC CITY – Two children—a six-year-old girl from Kananga, Leyte and a seven-year-old boy from Hernani Eastern Samar—are among the 17 persons who tested positive for the more contagious Delta variant in Eastern Visayas.
Dr. Mark Capuncol, the chief of the Regional Epidemiology Surveillance Unit of the Department of Health (DOH) Eastern Visayas, appealed to the public to follow all the health protocols to contain the spread of the virus.
He said that three of these patients are returning overseas Filipino workers while the rest are residents in the region.
The lone death was a 46-year-old female from Mercedes town, Eastern Samar who died in the first week of August.
