MANILA, Philippines — Another low-pressure area (LPA) has been spotted by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

This brings the number of LPAs being monitored by the state weather bureau to three, with one being monitored by Pagasa outside the PAR, according to senior weather specialist Chris Perez.

FEATURED STORIES

According to Perez, the first LPA recorded this morning was last spotted 465 kilometers (km) east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar while the other was spotted 190 km west-southwest of Basco, Batanes.

“Inaasahan nga na ang dalawang nabanggit na sama ng panahon ay magdudulot ng maulap na kalangitan, kalat kalat na pagulan, at pagkidlat pagkulog sa Batanes at Babuyan Group of Islands ganun din sa Eastern Visayas at sa Caraga,” said Perez.

“Sa ngayon maliit pa ang tiyansa maging bagyo, subalit patuloy nating imomonitor itong mga nabanggit nating LPA,” said Perez.

(For now, its chances of becoming a typhoon are small, but we will continue to monitor the LPAs we mentioned.)

On Monday, the majority of Luzon, including Metro Manila, will experience slightly cloudy to cloudy weather on Monday with chances of isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Palawan, on the other hand, as well as Eastern Visayas and Caraga in Mindanao, will experience cloudy weather with rain, thunder, and lightning.

“Sa natitirang bahagi naman ng Mindanao at Visayas, generally mainit at maalinsangan pero may tiyansa pa rin ng isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms lalong lalo na sa dakong hapon at gabi,” said Perez.

(The rest of Mindanao and Visayas, will experience generally hot and humid weather but there will still be a chance of isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms especially in the afternoon and evening.)
