According to DOH, active cases are now at 158,994, comprising 7.8 percent of all the 2,040,568 confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Meanwhile, there were also 7,710 new recoveries, raising the number of COVID-19 recoveries to 1,847,701. However, another 193 patients have died, raising the death toll to 33,873.

The DOH said 27.4 percent of 67,759 people who were tested were found positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday and were added to the list of active cases.

All laboratories were operational on Wednesday but six were not able to submit their data on time. On average, the non-reporting laboratories contribute 3.8 percent of the samples tested and 2.9 percent of the individuals who tested positive in the last two weeks.

The DOH removed 226 duplicates, including 219 recoveries, from the total case count, while 84 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
