MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga––Some 85,486 residents of Angeles City, comprising 26.3 percent of the 325,500 target population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the city government disclosed on Thursday.
Angeles City, which has a total population of about 465,000 based on the 2020 census, aims to vaccinate 70 percent of the residents to achieve herd immunity before the end of the year.
The city government reported having administered 231,677 doses of Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Moderna, and Sinopharm vaccines to health workers, the elderly, persons with comorbidity, frontline personnel in essential sectors, and indigent residents as of Sept. 2.
Data show that 146,191 residents have also received their first doses of the vaccines. These comprise 44.9 percent of the eligible residents.
The city has received US-made vaccines like Pfizer and Moderna from the Department of Health since it could store them in ultra-low temperature facilities of -80 degrees Celsius and -60°C for Pfizer and between -50°C and -15°C for Moderna. INQ
