MANILA, Philippines — Makati City Mayor Abigail “Abby” Binay will seek reelection in 2022, she revealed on INQside Look on Thursday.
“‘Di pa ba obvious ‘yun? (Isn’t that obvious?) Of course, 2022, I am running for reelection because you have to remember, I still have my subway to finish,” Binay gladly disclosed.
Binay is referring to the Makati Subway Project, considered as the mayor’s “legacy” to citizens, which is targeted to be operational by 2025.
The 10-kilometer subway is expected to decongest traffic, reduce pollution, and grow productivity of workers and profitability for businesses.
Aside from the Makati Subway, Binay is also looking forward to the accomplishment of another hospital.
“I also have to finish and see the completion of our second Ospital ng Makati. So, I’m not going anywhere,” Binay shared.
“Marami in the pipeline. I don’t want to announce kasi masyado siyang maganda. Hindi ko kasi ugali na kung rendering pa lang, drawing pa lang, hindi ko siya ina-announce,” Binay said when asked what her other projects would be, should she win the reelection.
(There are many in the pipeline. I don’t want to announce it because it is too good. It is not my attitude to announce something if it is still in the process.)
She, however, hinted about another “legacy” project.
“I guess that will also be part of my campaign promise, in a way. I have one more legacy project that I hope to be able to start on my third term. Abangan na lang nila kung ano ‘yun (they should just wait for it),” Binay hinted.
