MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga––Police arrested a “high-value target” in a sting operation that resulted in the confiscation of some P386,000 worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) in San Vicente Village of Tarlac City, authorities said Wednesday, Sept. 1

Col. Renante Cabico, Tarlac provincial police director, identified the suspect as Cherry Cardenio, 49, who is on the police drug watch list as a high-value target.

Using marked and dusted five P1,000 bills, an undercover police officer bought a sachet of shabu from the suspect during the operation Tuesday.

The suspect was arrested as soon as she received the money.

Cabico said a dozen sachets of suspected shabu weighing 56.7 grams with a street value of P386,000 were allegedly confiscated from Cardenio.

The suspect was brought to the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit in Camp Francisco Macabulos for detention. She is facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

In Camiling town, also in Tarlac, a tricycle driver identified as Christian Rei Carlos, 37, was arrested Wednesday in Bilad village for alleged possession of a sachet of suspected shabu.

The police said the suspect was on board his tricycle and allegedly failed to stop at a police checkpoint.
