Meanwhile, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso in a statement assured that his administration will continue to address the situation “inclusively” — providing vaccines not only for citizens of Manila but also for the general public.

Domagoso also said that life-saving medication such as tocilizumab and remdesivir can be availed from the local government “for anyone who needs it.”

The Department of Health (DOH) earlier announced that the government is facing challenges in sourcing anti-inflammatory drug tocilizumab for COVID-19 patients, amid the surge of coronavirus infections in the country.

“Delikado po talaga ang sitwasyon natin kaya sa totoo lamang, ang pamahalaan, katulad ng pamahalaang lokal ng Maynila ay patuloy na dapat tumutugon sa pangangailangan ng tao sa loob ng pandemyang ito,” he said.

(Our situation is really dangerous so in fact, the government, like the local government of Manila must continue to respond to the needs of people during this pandemic.)

“Walang ibang aasahan ang tao kung hindi ang pamahalaan [only the government can provide these needs],” the Mayor added.

Manila City currently has 1,665 active infections, 73,346 recoveries and 1,432 deaths from a total of 76,443 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
