MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday approved voter registration in areas under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), 29 days before the deadline on September 30.
“Comelec en banc just now approves the conduct of registration, from 8 A.M. – 5 P.M., in areas under MECQ, starting September 6, 2021,” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez told reporters in a Viber message.
“In-mall voter registration will be allowed,” Jimenez added.

Metro Manila and 15 other areas are under MECQ until September 7.
Previously, only areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified GCQ were allowed to conduct voter registration.
In areas under GCQ and modified GCQ, the voting days are extended until Saturday and holidays, and the voting hours are also extended on weekdays from 8 am to 7 pm.
