3 infants have COVID-19 as active cases reach 2,000 in Tarlac

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga—Three infants were among the 227 new COVID-19 patients in Tarlac province as its active cases reached 2,016 on Monday, Aug. 30.

The 9-month-old girl and the 1-year-old boy had no symptoms and were under quarantine, while the 8-month-old girl developed moderate symptoms and is in a hospital.

In its bulletin for Aug. 29 and 30, the Tarlac provincial government reported 108 recoveries and five deaths related to the viral disease.

The fatalities were residents of Tarlac City and San Manuel and Victoria towns.

Tarlac City has the most active cases at 675, followed by Capas with  226, and Victoria with 168.

Since last year, 11,686 COVID-19 cases have been registered in Tarlac. Of these, 9,226 had recovered, while 444 had died.

The province is under general community quarantine, the second least restrictive quarantine classification, and has been implementing strict border controls.
