PNOC president, ex-PCG Commandant Admiral Reuben Lista passes away

MANILA, Philippines — Former Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) commandant admiral and Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) president Reuben Lista passed away at 73 due to COVID-19, PCG disclosed on Tuesday.

“COVID ang (is the) cause of death,” PCG Commodore Armand Balilo said in a message.

The PCG, PNOC, and the Department of Energy (DOE) condoled with the bereaved family of Lista.

“The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) expresses its sincere condolences to the bereaved family of CG ADMIRAL REUBEN S LISTA today, 31 August 2021,” it said in a statement.

“Your leadership and support are the reasons for our progress. With you, we achieved great milestones and success. We owe you so much for pushing us harder, your inspirational words will stay with us forever,” the PNOC posted on its website.

“Admiral Lista was our staunch partner in realizing our energy goals to effectively implement President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s vision of ushering in a comfortable and secure future for the Filipino people,” the DOE said in a statement.

Lista was appointed as the 16th PCG commandant from 2001 to 2003 after being the deputy commandant for administration.

He led the Marine Environmental Protection Command and several coast guard districts, among other major units, the PCG noted.

Lista, later on, became the president and chief executive officer of the PNOC.

Lista was included in the Philippine Marine Academy Class of 1969 and considered as “one of the most decorated” graduates to serve the PCG and the Philippine Navy.
