PNP chief orders probe on killing of Bacolod cop
MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Guillermo Eleazar has ordered concerned local and regional police units on Tuesday to look into the killing of Staff Sergeant Joseph Nepomuceno from Bacolod City.
“Inatasan ko na ang Bacolod City Police at ang Western Visayas Police Regional Office na tutukan ang kaso ng pagpatay kay SSG Joseph Nepomuceno para sa agarang pagkakadakip ng mga salarin,” Eleazar said in a video message.
(I have tasked the Bacolod City Police and the Western Visayas Police Regional Office to focus on the case of Joseph Nepomuceno’s death to apprehend suspects.)
Eleazar added that he expects the suspects’ motives to come into light immediately and identify the perpetrators.
“Umaasa ako na agad ay magkakaroon ng linaw ang motibo sa pagpaslang at ‘di magtatagal ay matutukoy ang pagkakakilanlan ng mga salarin,” the chief expressed.

Moreover, the PNP’s top cop urged witnesses to help authorities by reporting any information that may lead to the erring individuals.
“I also urge witnesses to the crime and persons who may have information to come forward and help our police investigators to bring the perpetrators to justice,” Eleazar concluded.
On Sunday, Nepomuceno, assigned to the anti-drug unit of Bacolod City, was gunned down while on board his motorcycle. He sustained multiple gunshots that led to his demise.
