Eleazar orders probe of cop who threatened to shoot nurse in Valenzuela hospital

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) Guillermo Eleazar has ordered the Northern Police District to investigate the hypertensive cop who allegedly threatened a nurse while seeking treatment in Valenzuela hospital.

“Inutusan ko na ang district director ng Northern Police District na agad magsagawa ng imbestigasyon upang malaman ang katotohanan sa reklamong ito at kung bakit ito nangyari,” Eleazar said in a video message on Monday.

(I already ordered the district director of Northern Police District to immediately investigate to determine the truth on how this incident occurred.)

Patrolman Angelo Mendoza Abalos was rushed by his wife to Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital in Dalandanan Village for hypertension over the weekend, according to the police report.

At the triage area, Abalos introduced himself as a policeman then hurled expletives towards the nurse.

“T*** ina naman, nagpakilala na akong pulis! Kung hawak ko lang ang baril ko binaril ko na kayo,” Abalos was quoted as saying in the PNP report.

(Son of a bitch, I already introduced myself as a policeman! Had I had my gun with me I would have shot you already.)

The nurse and the hospital’s security guard immediately reported the incident to the police.

Abalos, who was confined in the said hospital, was discharged and later turned over to Valenzuela City police station for filling of formal complaint.
