PH logs 18,528 new COVID-19 cases; total case count now at 1,954,023
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines has logged 18,528 new COVID-19 infections, driving the overall case count to 1,954,023 on Sunday.
Based on the Department of Health (DOH)’s bulletin, 17,922 more recoveries and 101 additional deaths pushed the tallies to 1,777,693 and 33,109, respectively.
These figures bring the active cases to 143,221 or 7.3 percent of the total confirmed cases.
Of the active infections, 95.3 percent are mild, 2 percent are asymptomatic, 0.6 percent are critical, 1.1 percent are severe, and one percent are moderate.
The DOH said that 205 duplicates were pulled out from the total cases including 204 recoveries.
Article continues after this advertisementThe health agency added 38 cases, initially tagged as recoveries which were reclassified as fatalities after final validation.
A total of 66,225 COVID-19 tests were conducted on August 27, of which 27.9 percent yielded positive results.
Seven laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
Moreover, 71 percent of intensive care unit beds and 55 percent of ventilators are utilized across the country.
