Traffic jams noted as private schools open
CEBU CITY policemen noted traffic congestion but no major crime incidents as private schools resumed classes after the summer break yesterday.
Chief Insp. Romeo Santander of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) said he observed traffic jams in Colon Street in the downtown area where several colleges and universities are located as well as the Banilad-Talamban corridor in the north.
The vehicle buildup in the north artery is related to private schools there whose students come from affluent families and ride in their own cars.
In contrast, students of public schools, which opened last week, walk to their classes or take public transportation.
Santander said police will watch out for fraternity conflicts with the cooperation of barangay assets. CHITO ARAGON
