2 dead, 7 hurt as truck loaded with beer slams into vehicles in Albay town
LIGAO CITY — Two persons were killed while seven others were hurt after a truck loaded with beer crashed into several vehicles in Malilipot town in Albay province Saturday morning.
Killed in the incident were Wilson Brosa, 21, and Dionisio Bilaos, 50, both residents of Malilipot town. The incident happened at around 7:05 a.m., Malilipot police said.
Investigation showed that the truck was heading towards the direction of Malilipot’s town center.
Upon reaching the place, truck driver Armando Azupardo, 61, a resident of Legazpi City claimed he had lost control of the brakes. The truck then collided with a van, tricycle and a motorcycle.
Seven others, who were not identified in the report, sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Azupardo is now detained at the police station while charges are being readied against him.
