MANILA, Philippines — The additional budget being requested by the Department of Health (DOH) for the special risk allowance (SRA) of 17,000 more healthcare workers amounts to P201 million, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said Saturday.
Vergeire earlier said another 17,670 eligible healthcare workers have applied to receive the SRA based on submissions by regional offices of the DOH.
“Ito po ang hiningi namin uli sa Department of Budget and Management (DBM) na pera worth P201 million. But we are still awaiting additional submissions coming from our units para makumpleto natin ito,” Vergeire said during the Laging Handa public briefing.
(We are asking P201 million from the DBM for this. But we are still awaiting additional submissions coming from our units to complete the provision of benefits.)
The DOH earlier secured P311 million from the DBM for the SRA of over 20,000 healthcare workers.
Last Saturday, President Rodrigo Duterte gave the DOH and DBM 10 days to use whatever money the government for the benefits of health workers.
