Tarlac logs record-high 202 new COVID-19 cases on Friday

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – Tarlac recorded 202 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, the province’s highest single-day tally since the pandemic broke out last year.

The number surpassed the 188  new cases the provincial government recorded last Aug. 25.

Tarlac’s latest bulletin shows the province now has 1,571 active COVID-19 cases. It also recorded 97 recoveries and four deaths on Friday.

Most of the new cases were reported in Tarlac City (71), Paniqui (18), Victoria (14), Pura (14), Camiling (13), and La Paz (12).

Tarlac City also has the most active cases with 593, followed by Capas (204) and Victoria (152).

Since the pandemic broke out in March 2020, the province has recorded 11,347 COVID-19 cases. A total of 9,113 patients have recovered while 438 have died.

The provincial government said 145,937 residents have been fully inoculated against COVID-19 while 209,142 have received their first doses of the vaccines as of Aug. 26.

Tarlac seeks to vaccinate some 1,052,000 or 70 percent of the province’s 1,503,456 population based on the 2020 census.
