MANILA, Philippines — Retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Priscilla Baltazar-Padilla died on Friday. She was 63.
“The Judiciary mourns the passing on 27 Aug 2021 of its 188th Associate Justice, Hon. Priscilla J. Baltazar-Padilla,” the Supreme Court said in a statement on Saturday.

Padilla opted for early retirement in November 2020. The Supreme Court said her application was for “disability retirement.”
She served the Judiciary for more than two decades, starting as a Metropolitan Trial Court judge in 1996, until her appointment to the SC in July 2020.
Padilla is the 188th high court magistrate and the 14th appointee of President Rodrigo Duterte.
