MANILA, Philippines — Commission on Elections (Comelec) spokesperson James Jimenez on Friday bucked calls to extend the voter registration period until Sunday as the September 30 deadline nears.

Jimenez pointed out that the poll body already opened the voter registration on Saturday and holidays.

“Right now, we are already giving six days a week,” Jimenez said during the launch of voter registration at SM Supermalls.

“Bigyan naman natin ng pagkakataon ang mga tao natin na makapagpahinga,” he pointed out.

To date, there are now 61 million registered voters, according to Jimenez.
