LUCENA CITY––Two persons were killed when a fire of still unknown origin broke out early Friday and razed at least 38 houses in Guinayangan town in Quezon province.
On his Facebook page, Mayor Cesar Isaac III identified the casualties as a 15-year-old and 4-year-old. He did not provide other details.
The Guinayangan police, in a report, identified the two female victims as Mikayla Abellanosa and Mellisa Joy de la Cruz.
The blaze started in Barangay Mangagawa along the coast of Lamon Bay at 1:14 a.m. It was placed under control at 3 a.m., Isaac said.
Investigators have yet to determine what caused the fire.
The local government has immediately provided temporary shelter and assistance to fire victims, Isaac said. INQ
