MANILA, Philippines — PDP-Laban president and Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi on Friday tried to fend off the remark of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio that the ruling party has become a “sitcom,” saying his faction remains “organized.”

Cusi said that only those who do not support President Rodrigo Duterte’s vice presidential bid were regarded as a comedy, alluding to the faction led by Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel and Senator Manny Pacquiao.

“Nauunawaan ko naman noong sinabi po yun ni Mayor Inday na naging sitcom na nga po,” Cusi said in an interview with Teleradyo. “‘Yung sitcom pong sinasabi, siguro yun pong wala sa grupo na sumusuporta ng pagtakbo ni Pangulong Duterte sa pagka-bise presidente. As far as ang PDP po, we are very organized,” he added.

(I understand why Mayor Inday said that it has become a sitcom… The sitcom that she’s saying, perhaps she was referring to the group that does not support President Duterte to run for vice president. As far as PDP is concerned, we are very organized.)

Duterte-Carpio earlier called out Pimentel and PDP-Laban Executive Director Ron Munsayac for “blaming” her that the ruling political party has been reduced to a “sitcom.”

This, after Munsayac claimed “most” party members see the endorsed tandem of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go and the President as a mere “smokescreen” for the presidential bid of their real bet, the Davao City mayor.

Go, meanwhile, said he is not keen on running for president but is prepared to support Duterte-Carpio’s bid for the highest post. But Malacañang said the President’s stand is that “only one Duterte will run.”
